Mickelson, Singh complete PGA Grand Slam field

PGA Champion Phil Mickelson, who marched to victory at Baltusrol Golf Club to earn his second major title, and Vijay Singh, who finished among the top performers in this year's major, will complete the foursome for the 23rd PGA Grand Slam of Golf.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- PGA Champion Phil Mickelson, who marched to victory Mon., Aug. 15, at Baltusrol Golf Club to earn his second major championship, and Vijay Singh, who finished among the top performers in this year's major championships, will complete the foursome for the 23rd PGA Grand Slam of Golf, Nov. 22-23, at Poipu Bay Golf Course & Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa in Hawaii.

Mickelson won the 87th PGA Championship and returns as the defending champion in his second overall appearance in the 23rd PGA Grand Slam of Golf. Singh is replacing Retief Goosen, who finished first on the major champions points list but cannot compete because of a schedule conflict. Singh, a three-time major winner, will be making his fourth appearance in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf.

Goosen finished No. 1 on the 2005 Major Champions Points List with 288.83 points, while Singh was second with 273.16 points.

Singh and Mickelson will meet Masters and British Open Champion Tiger Woods and U.S. Open Champion Michael Campbell in the year's showdown of major champions. It will be Woods' seventh overall appearance in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, while Campbell will be making his first appearance.

The Major Champions Points List is composed of past major champions who competed in the 2005 majors. The PGA Grand Slam of Golf features a total purse of $1 million, with the Champion earning $400,000. The 36-hole stroke-play event is broadcast by TNT, one of Turner Broadcasting System's most prominent cable networks. Coverage of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf begins Tuesday, Nov. 22 on TNT from 6-10 p.m. EST; and concludes Wednesday, Nov.23, from 7-10 p.m. EST.
